Hi, I'm Nicola. I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist working between the NHS and private practice. I have experienced first hand the good, the bad & the ugly of clinical supervision! I am passionate about co-creating a space for clinicians to feel safe, held & understood so that they can use the space to look after themselves, reflect on their clinical work & stay inspired & passionate about their work. As a clinical supervisor I aim to be open, attentive, reflective & pragmatic. I value considering clinical work through multiple lens, including technical, relational & systems perspectives, and believe supervision should be a restorative space for supervisees. In my own clinical practice I am the Head of Secondary Care Psychology for a health board in Scotland. I provide clinical input to CMHT clients who present with a range of difficulties including PTSD, complex trauma, psychosis, dissociation etc. I also provide clinical supervision to Practitioner Psychologists & Mental Health Nurses who are providing psychological interventions. Most of my career to date has been working in multi-disciplinary teams, including in adult mental health & forensic mental health. I have worked in the UK & Australia. I am not a purist & integrate multiple models to provide formulation-driven care. My most used models include Compassion Focused Therapy, EMDR & CBT. I also regularly incorporate Motivational Interviewing, ACT, IFS, trauma-informed & solution focused approaches.
