Dr John Burns

Clinical Psychologist

Location:

Brighton And Online

I’m a Consultant Clinical Psychologist registered with the HCPC and BPS, and accredited with the BABCP. I’ve worked across a range of NHS and forensic settings, including as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist overseeing psychological services across three prisons in Surrey. In supervision, I aim to create a reflective, collaborative space where you can bring both the clinical material and your own responses to it. I see supervision as a chance to slow down, make sense of what’s happening in the room, and notice what’s being stirred in you as a clinician. It’s a space for curiosity and growth rather than performance. My approach is eclectic and integrative, drawing on IFS, Schema Therapy, EMDR, CBT, ACT and CFT. I’m particularly interested in helping clinicians explore relational dynamics, emotional processes and the moments of stuckness that often hold rich information. People describe me as warm, compassionate and down-to-earth. I aim to balance thoughtfulness with genuine support, helping you feel grounded, confident and connected to your work.
