I am a clinical psychologist, qualifying from Royal Holloway in 2003. I have over 20 years experience working across a range of clinical settings; broadly divided into NHS CAMHS work, supporting children with learning disabilities in residential education/ care settings and for the past 7 years working in palliative care as part of an MDT in a hospice setting. I have worked in the NHS and for charities and recently started to work one day a week in a private practice where I see a range of adult mental health presentations. I have a specialist interest in children in the care system (LAC). It was the focus of my thesis and for many years, I've offered consultations to staff teams in local children's homes. I have been a clinical supervisor since meeting my first trainee 20 years ago. Since then, I've supervised many trainees, assistants, counsellors and peers. It's an aspect of my work that I have always loved; learning from, and sharing learning with others, is deeply rewarding. I strive to be a thoughtful, supportive supervisor who takes a genuinely collaborative approach to sessions. I take time to understand what each clinician needs from their supervision and try to adapt my style to suit. I am comfortable sharing my own clinical experiences where relevant and always share CPD links As well as using theory to build helpful formulations, I'm curious to know about my supervisees' emotional responses to their work, taking time to consider their own needs and wellbeing.
