Hi, my name is Dr Kirsty Horne. I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist at the University of Glasgow in 2010. I initially worked in adult mental health before moving into physical health settings in 2014 (chronic pain, cardiac rehab, stroke, oncology). I have also worked in ICU and liaison psychiatry. My main therapeutic modalities were initially CBT and ACT, but have expanded to include elements of CFT and IFS. I am also an accredited EMDR therapist and although this is currently my main modality, I tend to work in an integrative way. In 2021, I started working 1 day a week in private practice and in 2024, after 21 years in the NHS, I made the move to full-time private practice. Since being diagnosed as Autustic in 2020, I have had a growing interest in working with neurodivergent clients and have completed various training courses in tailoring therapy for neurodivergence. I now work mainly with late diagnosed Autistic and/ or ADHD clients who experience burnout, low self-esteem and trauma related to the experience of a lifetime of undiagnosed neurodivergence. I have experience of supervising qualified psychologists, trainees and nursing staff. In supervision, I aim to provide a reliable, safe and collaborative space for discussion and reflection of clinical work, factors impacting on clinical work and the practicalities of setting up in private practice.
